Philanthropy Approach
Our philanthropic goal is to support nearby AXO chapters and local non-profit organizations through a variety of methods each year: monetary donations, gift baskets, and volunteer hours. We like this approach because it allows everyone an opportunity to give back in the way they prefer. If we come in under budget when we ask members to pay a fee for an event (e.g. wine tasting event, paint and pour, cooking class etc), we will set aside the extra money to support our philanthropy efforts.
This year we will be doing the following:
October - Raffle to benefit the Epsilon chapter
November - Collecting blankets and towels for Good Shepherd Shelter February - Putting together baskets for the women at Good Shepherd Shelter -- an AKA tradition!
March - Collecting books for Good Shepherd Shelter
May - Spring cleaning time! We will collect a variety of items for Good Shepherd Shelter. Bring your new and gently used clothing, household items, and more!

Good Shepherd Shelter
The Good Shepherd Shelter was the first domestic violence shelter in Los Angeles. Since 1994, it has provided a safe, nurturing environment in which mothers and their children can heal, reawaken their dignity and self confidence, and learn the skills that will help them stop the cycle of domestic violence. We encourage you to read more about Good Shepherd's story, mission, services, and its goals.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Chapter works with Good Shepherd Shelter to determine their most immediate needs and will communicate to members those needs through email prior to collection meetings. Collection meetings have been identified in the calendar under "what to bring". If you are interested in supporting in other ways Good Shepherd has put together a wish list where you can purchase and donate on your own.
If you would like to donate directly to Good Shepherd, you can mail a check to: The Good Shepherd Shelter, P.O. Box 19487, Los Angeles, CA 90019-6233. Alternatively, you can donate online.

Epsilon - USC AXO Chapter
We support the Epsilon Chapter in several ways. We have an alumnae from our group on the Board that supports them. We participate in Hall of Commitment every year based on what they need from us. It could either be financial support, running the HOC ceremony or writing letters to the seniors about what sisterhood means to us. We also support them by having fundraisers so that we can can purchase something from their "Wish List" each year. We have also provided snacks for finals week. If you want recent information from USC Epsilon check out their website: www.uscaxo.org
Alpha Chi Omega Foundation
Every year we like to make a monetary donation to the foundation. This year we will be collecting donations during the Alpha Chis Live Free and DIY event on April 5th.
